Inspired by his mother Vernalee Hooper affectionately known as Snooky, Jonathan Austin embarked on his journey to baking in 2007. With over 15 years of experience, Jonathan (better known as The Late Night Baker) taught himself all of the intricacies of baking. Mastering both flavor and design in the most creative ways to provide a combustion of flavor with eye catching presentations that will amplify the ambiance of all occasions.

Jonathan’s mission is to create a path for people to enjoy each other’s company through baking. This mission was birthed by his mother who used food as a vehicle to do the same. With Jon, her legacy continues.

With Cakes by Jon, we should expect the quality and love to flourish, the artistry to evolve, and the work that is put out to signify how much love he has for his craft.

Jonathan was born in Philadelphia and raised in Staten Island, NY. Currently, he lives with his beautiful wife and 3 sons in Gastonia, North Carolina.
